Ron DuPlain showed me today that I can just type “go” and then my search term into the URL bar at the top of my browser!! This is so much easier than clicking through to http://google.com, typing the search term into the box, and then clicking the button to search. (He was surprised I didn’t already know how to do this… “don’t you read Espressomind?” he said. Sure, I read it, but I guess I didn’t understand how tremendously useful all those details in “Customize your Firefox Location bar” would be.)
A little bit of really easy setup is required:
- Go to http://google.com
- Right click on the search box
- Navigate down to “Add a Keyword for this Search”
- Set the name to whatever you want
- Set the keyword to something simple, like I did – “go” for Google
This is going to save me tons of keystrokes every day. What am I going to do with all that extra time? My goodness, the possibilities are endless.
